Wolseley has been ranked number 35 in this year’s ‘European BusinessWeek 50’, the annual ranking of the region’s best performers.
Selected from Standard & Poor’s Europe 350 Index and based on earnings growth and a number of performance measures, the ranking illustrates the best of European businesses across a range of industry sectors and the companies who feature year-on-year are those whose strategic vision and outstanding execution pay off in both boom and lean times.
The methodology used to establish the BusinessWeek 50 list focuses on two core financial measures, average return on capital and sales growth, both taken over the previous three years. In addition BusinessWeek compares companies with others in their sectors.
The ratings are based on Standard & Poor’s 350 which covers major corporations in 17 European markets, including the 12 members of the euro zone. Wolseley has appeared in the Top 50 list previously: in 2004 we were 33rd.
